Pioneering model for IT training

The St. Bruno School on the outskirts of Masaka is run and supported by a church-based educational provider, the Diocese of Masaka. Since 2018, it has been pursuing the plan to convert St. Bruno into a secondary school with an IT focus in order to promote educational opportunities and act as a role model for other schools.

A lot has happened since 2018. Replacing three single-storey school buildings and an administration building, four two-storey buildings have been constructed, including a specialist wing for IT and natural sciences, as well as a residential building for teachers. The pupils now have significantly more space in the classrooms, which was necessary to provide for a good and comprehensive education in the long term.

Objective
Support

Development of an IT profile for practice-oriented and contemporary IT lessons at the St. Bruno secondary school in Masaka.

Construction of school buildings with the corresponding infrastructure such as kitchens, dormitories, and sanitary facilities.

The IT focus is also supported by awarding scholarships and setting up an IT club. There is a lively exchange between pupils and AEB employees who are involved in this project.

The connection is strengthened by the sponsorship program. AEB employees take on private sponsorships for pupils by financing their school education.
