KinderHelden goes to great length to carefully pair a child of primary school age with a volunteer mentor. The mentors usually accompany the children for several years in weekly meetings. They provide guidance and perspective and help the children to actively and confidently take their school career and leisure time into their own hands.
The project "Fit for Five" has also created the opportunity for mentoring to take place online. For a period of six months, mentors support children in acquiring the necessary skills for the transition from elementary school to secondary school with a sophisticated online training program. Reading is the focus of the support, but modules on learning methods and work behavior are also included.
Facilitate the transition to secondary school for primary school children from educationally disadvantaged families through effective 1:1 support.
AEB employees can register with KinderHelden as a mentor for a primary school child. Mentoring takes place online and can therefore be done from anywhere. The time required and duration are clearly defined and can be firmly integrated into the daily work routine. The time spent is remunerated by AEB as working time.
